No.57 of the 30th. March,1893, which sanctioned the raising
of the balances at the Hong-Kong & Shanghai Bank from
$125,000 to $200,000 but did not advert to the subject of
the second current account with another bank for the Praya
Fund.
Amongst the papers now before me there ap-
pears to be no further reference to a second current ac-
count and this particular point seems to have been dropped.
The language of the Marquess of Ripon in paragraph 4 of
C.O.D.No.11 of 22nd. January, 1894, where it is stated "under
the arrangement which I have sanctioned
the Colonial
Government will provide from their balances in Hong-Kong
the money required from time to time for the execution of
the Praya works," appears to approve of the merging of the
Praya Reclamation Fund in the general funds of the Colony
**
and to waive the question of opening the second current
account for the Fraya Fund.
